Bible Gateway 10 - Honor as a Bible Gateway

.
Bible Gateway 10 - Honor as Your Bible Gateway
.

Do you understand that you'll NEVER be able to call anything 'your own' except your word. (If you don't believe me, just stop paying for something. Someone will come get it and return it to its owner.)

Honor is a Bible Gateway, as are so many other aspects and behaviors.

Like it or not ... believe it or not ... people are watching you. They watch how you speak, how you treat others, and even how you behave in traffic!

If you give people mixed signals, they'll say you talk the talk but can't and don't walk the walk.

That's a bad thing.

What does God say about honor? His Word is His love letter and instructions to us, so let's take a quick peek at what He says about it ...

Hmmmm ... the word 'honor' is mentioned 179 times in the NKJV. I never want to overwhelm people with all the verses. But I do think there is significance in what He says first and last ... so let's look ...

The first time in the Old Testament:

Genesis 34:18-20 (NKJV):
18 And their words pleased Hamor and Shechem, Hamor’s son. 19 So the young man did not delay to do the thing, because he delighted in Jacob’s daughter. He was more honorable than all the household of his father. 20 And Hamor and Shechem his son came to the gate of their city, and spoke with the men of their city, saying:

(Look up all the times 'honor' is used in the Book of Proverbs.)

The last time in the Old Testament:

Malachi 1:5-7 (NKJV):
5 Your eyes shall see, And you shall say, ‘ The LORD is magnified beyond the border of Israel.’ 6 “ A son honors his father, And a servant his master. If then I am the Father, Where is My honor? And if I am a Master, Where is My reverence? Says the LORD of hosts To you priests who despise My name. Yet you say, ‘In what way have we despised Your name?’ 7 “ You offer defiled food on My altar, But say, ' In what way have we defiled You?’ By saying, ‘ The table of the LORD is contemptible.’

The first time in the New Testament:

Matthew 13:56-58 (NKJV):
56 And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this Man get all these things?” 57 So they were offended at Him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house.” 58 Now He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

The last time in the New Testament:

Revelation 21:25-27 (NKJV):
25 Its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there). 26 And they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it. 27 But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

Well - if God mentions honor (in the NKJV) 179 times ... and it's in both the first and last Books of His Word ... would you say that it's important to Him?

God Bless you –
